Ava is in a pre-ballet class and loves it. She stretches everyday and is always twirling.
We decided to put Nathan in a hip hop class, because Tyler says guys with moves get all the ladies, haha. I am teaching him piano, so the money I save there we put toward other things he wants to do.
I went to register the kids for class and was trying to decide if I was going to be brave enough to take a class too. Then I found out that boys dance for free, so I signed myself up for ballet. I danced when I was a little girl, and loved it. But as I got older my mom made me concentrate on piano, and then singing. I took hip hop too so that I would be more comfortable on stage, and that was good and helped with my performing, but I have always loved ballet. I love my class, especially because I get to take it with my SIL, Maria. We have a great time and get an awesome workout.
The kids both dance in a studio that has no windows, so I haven't been able to see them in action, but they are both having a blast. I will try and sneak some pictures.
Have you ever seen the Living Scriptures- Helaman's Stripling Warriors movie? My grandparents gave us a bunch of the living scriptures for Sundays. The kids love that one and watch it all the time. The other day when I was doing Ava's hair in a "princess bun" (just a little messy bun). I was pulling it into the ponytail, and when I do the messy bun I like to not pull the hair all the way through on the last time, so the hair is in a loop. After it was looped she turned her head and said, "Not like that Mommy! I look like a Lamanite!" I about died. In all the Living Scripture movies they have the same hair, and apparently it is Lamanite hair. That girl cracks me up!
You'll have to click on that one to see it better...
And here is what her hair kind of looked like... I couldn't really get her to cooperate this day to get a good picture, but I think you can see the similarities.
I have to brag about Nathan....he gave his first report last week, yep in First Grade! Last semester at our Parent Teacher Conference the teacher asked what Nathan what goals he wanted to set for the next semester. He wanted to teach the class something. And she said she has had her more advances students do a report and present it to the class. He decided right there to talk about Orb Weaver Spiders. This is one we had one in a yard a few months back:
He did a bunch of research and kept saying he wanted to type his report. After he typed it and I proofed it, we put it all together in a slide show, and it looked great. On the day of his presentation he got up and read his report while I clicked through the slides. He even answered questions all by himself. We were so proud of him. He wasn't even nervous and did a great job. I love that boy!
