Ouch..

Today was almost the usual Sunday. I had Nathan with me at choir practice while Tyler did tithing. We practice in the chapel, and Nathan runs all over with the other kids. So that is what he was doing, when I hear him start screaming, and see him down by the organ bench. I go over and get him just thinking he bumped his head, but he was screaming a lot worse then he would for a bump. Then I see blood, and it is coming from right near his eye. I was sitting next to a friend of ours, who is in Medical School, and he scooted closer to check it out. He immediately grabbed a toy to make sure that Nathan could follow it with his eye, and he could. Then we cleaned the cut to see how deep it was. I thought for sure we would be going to the E.R. for stitches. He didn't know what to tell me really. He just kept saying things like "It is pretty deep..." and that his wife would go to the E.R. for sure. But then he also said that if it were him(being a guy) that he would wait it out. Tyler happened to come in at this point because he was all done with tithing. We decided to get some butterfly bandages on the way home, and see if it would stop bleeding. Tyler runs in to CVS and they didn't have any butterfly bandages. Did they stop making them? What kind of pharmacy are they??? He grabbed some liquid bandage instead. I was so incredibly nervous to put that on, because it is so close to his eyeball. Tyler gave Nathan his first ever blessing for an injury. And then we went to work. I cleaned the cut with an alcohol wipe and Nathan was screaming like crazy, then we put some of the liquid bandage stuff on, and he screamed some more. I hurried and wiped his eye because I was so nervous that when his eye teared that the stuff went in his eye. We gave him some Tylenol, and then tried again 10 minutes later. We could have used a third persons help for sure. This time Tyler held Nathan down with one hand, and tried to keep his head still with the other, while I applied the glue. I think it worked better. I am praying that it will heal quickly and normally. Nathan acts fine, and was such a tough little guy. I love you buddy!

The before shots look so sad, but here is an after:

Poor Nathan! (And poor you for all the worrying). I'm sure he'll be OK, but it's never fun to try to patch them up when you know it's hurting them. I need to show you my no-hurt antiseptic foam.

Poor little guy! That happened to Cade when I was out of town and my father in law used rubber cement from his shop out back--I was so bitter! But now I think his little scar is so cute!
