Spring Break Trip- Day 1

We were so ready for Spring Break this year. A lady in our ward had been telling us forever how wonderful the Carl Bloch exhibit was and I really wanted to see it, there is this one picture that I just love, and had to see it in person after hearing her story about it. Since Tyler works for the school district he usually gets some time off when the schools are on breaks and so we decided we should go up North for spring break.

The kids did excellent in the car, and I think I was more anxious then they were. We got to Provo Wednesday afternoon and headed straight to the Carl Bloch exhibit. It was really neat to see the paintings up close. This is the picture that made me want to go. After hearing some stories and testimonies in Relief Society, I felt so strongly that the angel sent to comfort Christ in Gethsemane was His Mother. Who better to comfort someone, then their mother, you know?

After seeing all the art we took the kids to the Creamery on 9th for yummy ice cream. My Aunt and Uncle were in town from Mesa, and we were so glad we got to meet up with them there. I forgot to get my camera out there and am totally kicking myself! The weather in Provo was so nice- it was overcast and warm, so we were excited....and then the nice weather ended an hour later.

We left Provo and headed to our hotel to drop off our stuff. That is when the wind kicked up, it was freezing. We headed into Salt Lake to go to the Gateway Mall. I was super excited to do some shopping but by the time we got there it was raining. It is an outdoor mall, so to get from store to store you have to go outside.

Our first stop there was Clark Planetarium. It was really cool (and FREE!) and the kids got all their wiggles out running all over.
Ava was fascinated by Mars

We tried to brave the rain and do some shopping but it was too hard. The kids were freezing and we were all soaked. The wind kept blowing out umbrellas inside out, so we went to Applebee's until it was time for the Jazz game.

Check out that Mozerella! The one right before this stretched way further but I didn't get the picture in time.

After getting all wet again, and Tyler and Ava almost getting run over (along with a handful of other people) by a Valet Parking guy who was backing up into a crowd and not looking in his dang mirror(!),shedding years off of my life, we made it across the street to the Jazz game. We found some tickets on stubhub, for like $3.50 each, they were at the very top of the stadium, but we could still see really well, and Nathan was so excited to be there. It was a really good game, and the Jazz won, making it even better.

Nathan is such a mini Tyler! Glad you guys got to go to the game for so cheap!

I hadn't heard that story about the painting. That is really cool! That was my favorite painting of the exhibit.
