Home At Last!

Well we just got home from a week long trip to Albuquerque, NM. We had a great time. We went to the Zoo, Aquarium, Botanical Garden (all in one day), shopping, swimming, and ended the week with a Family Reunion. It was so fun to see Nathan get so excited seeing all the animals. It was hot and muggy and we did a lot of walking, but just seeing Nathan so happy was worth more then anything. He was such a good boy, and we are really so lucky.

We were so glad to be able to see lots of family. The first three days we stayed with my fabulous sister in law, and her family. We had our own mini reunion there. She hosted all 10 of us. We really appreciate all the work she went to, to have us there. We had lots of fun, and great food! We love you Melissa! Then Tyler, Nathan, and I stayed in a hotel the next 3 nights (once the reunion officially started). The weather there was so nice, and we were not too excited to come home to the 100+ degrees.

Our trip home was rather adventurous. We got to Flagstaff with no problems. It was overcast, and raining off and on. Then about an hour and a half later we see these BLACK clouds. They looked pretty scary, and we drove right into their path. It started pouring buckets of rain! It was coming down so hard, so we decided to pull of the road. There were 5 or 6 cars that pulled off behind us, and a few in front of us too. We waited there for like 15 minutes, and then when it lightened up a little got back on the road. I have never seen it rain so hard! Then 30 miles outside of Kingman we hear this really loud vibrating (it had been going on for a while, and then all of the sudden got SOOOO loud). At first we thought it was this semi that was passing us, and then it passed, and the noise kept going. So we pull off, and Tyler checks the tires. One of the tires, was on the verge of a blow out.

We had to completely unload the trunk to get to the spare, and then the dumb wrench didn't even fit the lugnuts. So we call our insurance and they said well call 411 and have someone come tow you. Duh we were in the middle of nowhere. And then it starts raining- all of our stuff on the side of the road. I was about in tears, praying someone would stop- we weren't on the side of the freeway, there was an exit right there, that went who knows where- and then right then someone saw Tyler, and he was able to flag them down. We got the tire changed, and got back on the road. The rest of the drive was fine, until just outside the dam. It is just two lanes, and there was so much traffic. It took us over an hour just to get over the dam. So the 8 and 1/2 hour drive took almost 11! We are so glad that we made it home safe and sound.
